Is there a free version?
Yes. Konvai's free version covers WordPress posts and pages, 5 AI providers, knowledge base with custom Q&A, multilingual support, GDPR consent, message ratings, off-topic filtering and webhooks. Pro adds WooCommerce, PDFs, voice, embeddings, conversation history, quick replies, human handoff, operating hours, dark mode and white-labelling.
Does it work with my theme?
Yes. The chat widget is fully self-contained — CSS variables, scoped class names, no global resets. It runs cleanly with Astra, GeneratePress, Avada, Divi, OceanWP, Blocksy and any other major theme. If something looks off, you can override with custom CSS or rebrand entirely with a few hex codes.
How much does the AI itself cost?
You pay your AI provider directly — we never resell tokens. Realistic monthly cost using gpt-4o-mini on a busy site (3,000 messages): around €5–€10. For most stores, AI costs are dwarfed by the revenue from one extra recovered cart.
Is the design customisable?
Primary & secondary colors, font family, logo, header texts, quick replies, position (bottom-right or bottom-left), popup width/height, custom CSS — everything is configurable from the admin. With Pro you also unlock dark mode, OS-aware Auto theme and the ability to hide the “Powered by Konvai” footer entirely.
Can the bot handle voice and images?
Yes — with Pro. Visitors can record voice messages directly in the chat; OpenAI Whisper transcribes them server-side. Image messages are also supported by the chat models that accept them (GPT-4o, Claude 4.x, Gemini 2.5).
What does Image & Voice Messages do?
Voice messages are transcribed to text via Whisper before being sent to the chat AI — so the visitor speaks, the bot reads. Image messages are passed natively to vision-capable models (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini) which can answer questions about the picture (“is this part compatible with my model?”).
Is the data stored on your servers?
No. Conversations, knowledge base entries and embeddings live in your own WordPress database. The only outbound traffic is from your server to the AI provider you chose. Konvai never sees your visitors' data.
GDPR Compliance Features

How do I improve replies with a custom prompt?
In the AI Settings tab there's a System Prompt field. Write instructions in plain language: tone of voice, what to recommend, what to refuse, how to handle pricing questions, when to escalate. Konvai includes 5 business-type presets (E-commerce, Booking, SaaS, Restaurant, Generic) you can use as a starting point and tweak.
